Plot
Sofia Coppola's obsession with women's loneliness is prolonged in 'The Beguiled', this time in its biggest expression. This film follows the life of a group of young women living isolated from the world in a boarding school. This is where the plot takes place, when a wounded man (Colin Farrell) arrives to a school for women in Virginia in 1864, right at the critical point of the American Civil War. While being trapped in the school, safe from the war but in total isolation, seduction and jealousy will arise in a compound of violence and horror from a feminine point of view. Treason and envy will eventually turn these women against each other... and him.
Coppola goes deep in female psychology, and how isolation and despair can get to affect to a group of young women.
