The third time was the lucky time
Universal bought the rights of 'The Art Of Racing in the Rain' in 2009 when Patrick Dempsey was the main character of the film. However the proyect lengthened and Dempsey have to refuse the proyect because of others commitments. Disney tries to start it again in 2016 but it was a miss again. Now, ten years after the first attempt it has gone forward and Dempsey is part of the production cast. Happy ending.
Based on a novel
The film is based on a book of 2008 from Garth Stein which have the same name than the film.
