Plot

'Teresa' explores the life of Saint Teresa of Jesus, whose secular name was Teresa Sánchez de Cepeda Dávila y Ahumada. She is the woman behind one of the great renovations of the Church, author of 'The Book of Life' and the first doctor of the Church, a title she received centuries later, in 1970, from Pope Paul IV. The film tells the moment in which Teresa waits patiently to be judged by the Inquisitor. Her future depends on her words: she can gain freedom, end up imprisoned, or die at the stake.

Paula Ortiz ('The Bride', 'From Your Window to Mine') is the director behind 'Teresa'. Ortiz also writes with Javier García Arredondo ('The Bride') the script for the film, which is an adaptation of 'The Language in Pieces', the work of Juan Mayorga (Princess of Asturias Award for Literature) which revolves around the figure of Saint Teresa of Jesus and which has been performed in theaters in Spain.

The cast is made up of actors and actresses of the stature of Greta Fernández ('The Thief's Daughter', 'Elisa and Marcela'), who plays the young version of Teresa, and Blanca Portillo ('Maixabel', 'Volver', 'Broken Embraces'), who embodies his more adult version. The rest of the cast is completed by Claudia Traisac ('Escobar: Paradise Lost', 'The Prince', 'Apaches'), Asier Etxeandia ('Pain and Glory', 'Velvet', 'The Bride'), Luis Bermejo ('Your son', 'Magical Girl', 'While the war lasts'), Consuelo Trujillo ('Days without light', 'Verónica'), Miriam Moukhles ('Disappeared', 'Three') and Miriam Escurriola.
