Plot
Salam's work on the famous telenovela 'Tel Aviv on Fire' takes a complete turn when one day, on the way to the set for a day of shooting, he strikes up a friendship with a creative Israeli soldier during a security check. Salam, a 30-year-old Palestinian man, lives in Jerusalem, although the series he collaborates on takes place in the city of Ramallah. Therefore, every day he has to make his way to the television studios that lead him, due to the tight government control, to undergo the procedures headed by the Israeli army. There he meets the commander in charge of the checkpoint that he passes through daily, Assi. Assi's wife is a die-hard fan of the series that Salam works on so, to impress his wife, Assi uses his newfound link to Salam to get involved in the writing of the scripts. After an initial bout of skepticism, Salam discovers that the ideas of the guard could be much better than he thought. Both men will maintain a close friendship as they begin writing new plots based on their experiences with the ultimate goal of impressing the producers of the series. Thus, little by little they will gain the fame and trust of all fans of the soap opera which, thanks to Salam and Assi, will enjoy a considerable increase in popularity throughout the country.
