Plot
The film 'Tchaikovsky's Wife' is a biopic that follows Antonina Miliukova, the wife of Russia's most famous classical music composer, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, and their turbulent relationship as a couple. Antonina is one of the key people in the musician's biography.
The film introduces us to Antonina as a young girl from a good family who wants to meet Tchaikovsky with the hope of entering the conservatory, but he does not seem interested in helping her at first. However, the composer decides to ask her to marry him to put an end to the rumours about his homosexuality and to benefit from her dowry, but this will end up causing a severe mental and emotional crisis, as their marriage will have great turmoil. When Tchaikovsky decides to separate from Antonina and split their marriage, Antonia is devastated and loses her mind completely.
'Tchaikovsky's Wife' is written and directed by Kirill Serebrennikov, a filmmaker awarded for his work on such films as 'Petrov's Flu', '(M)uchenik', and 'Leto'.
The film stars Alyona Mikhailova as Antonina Miliukova, Odin Lund Biron as Pyotr Tchaikovsky, and Miron Fedorov as Nikolai Rubinstein, who share the screen with Philipp Avdeev, Yuliya Aug, Filipp Avdeev, Andrey Burkovskiy, Nikita Elenev, and Ekaterina Ermishina.
