Plot
The ingenious Jafar Panahi's 'Taxi' is shot almost entirely within a cab that circles the streets of Tehran, with Panahi himself in the driver's seat. In the course of a day, the cab becomes a stage (or a confessional) for the assorted strangers that Panahi picks up, as the director invites them to speak about their concerns, fears, hopes, and expectations. As the director/cab driver coaxes forth this series of narratives, the camera captures a panorama of the vibrant, bustling, and fascinating city through the car windows. Without ever leaving the cab, Panahi quietly orchestrates a multi-layered mosaic of life in today's Iran.
The director of films like 'This is not a movie', 'Out of Bounds' or 'The Circle', managed to win the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival 2015 thanks to this movie that was also nominated for the film festival Sydney.

Trivia
The film is completely set in one car and the cameras never leave it.
The film was shot using three small Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Cameras in the taxi to avoid attracting attention outside of the car and to protect the actors' security.
Shortly after the film's premiere at Berlin was announced, Panahi released an official statement in which he promised to continue making films despite the ban and said "Nothing can prevent me from making films since when being pushed to the ultimate corners I connect with my inner-self and, in such private spaces, despite all limitations, the necessity to create becomes even more of an urge."
