Plot
Zaza Urushadze gets behind the cameras to direct this war drama. Co-production between Estonia and Georgia, 'Tangerines' takes the viewer to the war in Georgia in 1990, at the height of independence from the Georgian region of the former Soviet Union. Ivo is a man who belonged to a small colony of Estonians who lived in a town far from the capital and who, against the rest of his compatriots who flee to his native country, he decided to stay and is dedicated to harvest tangerine crops. This gentleman lives peacefully, until the war knocks at his door in the form of a wounded man who is abandoned in his house, with this scene so bleak, Ivo is forced to take care of the wounded. Nominated for the Oscar for best foreign language film, winner of the Gaudí prize for best European film.
