Tale of Tales

'The Tale of Tales', the first English film by the Italian director Matteo Garrone, tells three different stories that are inspired by the many tales of the book by Giambattista Basile. So the kings and queens, princes and princesses, forests and castles of three neighboring kingdoms, exists outside of time and space with orcs, mythological animals, dragons, witches, and circus performers. In this film based on the celebrated tales of Basile, we find stars Salma Hayek and Vincent Cassel playing queens and kings. The collaborative script of Edoardo Albinati, Ugo Chiti, Matteo Garrone and Massimo Gaudioso transports us to a world of fantasy which also features Toby Jones, Shirley Henderson and John C. Reilly.
