Sunset Song

Directed by Terence Davies ('The Deep Blue Sea'), this film was presented in the Official Selection of San Sebastián Film Festival. Based on the novel by Lewis Grassic Gibbon, the film tells the tragedy about Chris Guthrie, a young girl who has suffered from the drama at home. Her mother committed suicide when she was pregnant again because she was tired of having children. Her father, unable to raise their children alone, sends her younger siblings with her uncle and her aunt in Aberdeen. The eldest son, Will, takes bad with their father and he flees with his fiancee Mollie to Argentina. This will leave the poor Chris alone. After a cardiovascular accident, the girl will have to take care of the farm alone. After his father prevent take advantage of it and after his death, Chris must start a new life. But it will have an internal debate, since she knows that there is progress in the city but homeland called her.
