Plot
Once upon a time, human beings and mythological beings like the Kappas lived peacefully together. But, after a misunderstanding, a samurai killed an adult Kappa, in front of his son, Coo. When the warrior is going to attack poor Coo, an earthquake ensues that buries him (keeping him in a deep lethargy) for three centuries. Currently, Koichi, a primary school boy, finds a shell that looks like a fossil. When Koichi takes him home, he discovers that the shell is from the Kappa Coo, which is resurrected when the child dips it in water. From that moment on, Koichi and Coo will become friends, being warmly welcomed by the little boy's family, the Ueharas. However, both Koichi and his parents should be careful, since the discovery of the existence of the Kappa could jeopardize his existence. Winner of the award for best film at the Tokyo International Film Festival, nominated for Best Animated Film at Awards of the Japanese Academy and nominated for Best Animated Feature at Asia Pacific Screen Awards. 'Summer Days with Coo' is one of the films directed by Keiichi Hara, recognized for having directed several 'Crayon Shin-chan' movies and films such as 'Colorful', 'Miss Hokusai' (which was pre-candidate at Academy Awards) and 'The Wonderland'.
