Plot
'Spirited' is an American musical comedy directed by Sean Anders, which also writes its script with John Morris. It is a Christmas movie that adapts the well known "A Christmas Carol" story by Charles Dickens and also parodies all the various adaptations since. It stars Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds.
For centuries, Jacob Marley and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet-to-Come keep looking for lost human souls with the objective to "redeem" one each Christmas. This year, they have notices Clint Briggs (Reynolds), a renowned media executive which is also a terrible, miserable and egocentric person.
Although Marley thinks Briggs has no solution, Ebenezer Scrooge, the Ghost of Christmas Present (Farrell) is optimistic about redeeming Briggs. He thinks that if he succeeds it will have a positive effect in all human kind. However, as it was expected, it is not an easy job...
The 'Spirited' project began in 2019 when director Sean Anders united with Ferrell's and Reynolds' production companies to prepare the movie. In a very competitive streaming wars and with the necessity to have their own films, Apple won a lucrative bidding war for the movie rights, which elevated its budget to 200 million dollars.
