Space Cadet

'Space Cadet' is an American comedy written and directed by Liz W. García and starring Emma Roberts. It is a production by Stampede Ventures and Amazon MGM Studios for Prime Video, which will release the film worldwide on July 4, 2024.

Roberts plays Tiffany 'Rex' Simpson, a carefree young woman enjoying her days as a waitress in Florida, filled with parties, sunshine, and the beach. But Rex's life wasn't always like this. She graduated high school with excellent grades and a scholarship that she had to decline when her mother was diagnosed with cancer. Later, she stayed home to take care of her father, and ten years have passed with her wondering what could have been if she had pursued her studies.

Her lifelong dream has always been to become an astronaut, and on a whim, she asks her friend Nadine for help to apply to NASA. Nadine "embellishes" her resume and submits it without Rex knowing, leading to her surprise selection. However, when Rex arrives at NASA, she discovers that her friend has presented her as an experienced pilot with a doctorate. With her cover potentially blown, it might be too late to reveal the truth...

'Space Cadet' was primarily filmed in New Jersey, with some scenes shot at the Space Museum in Huntsville, Alabama. The movie has been mostly panned by critics, although Emma Roberts' performance stands out.
