Southern Brides

Elena López Riera, director and screenwriter of 'Southern Brides', investigates images, documents, home videos and other materials belonging to different weddings that have taken place over the years in her family, such as her grandmother, aunt , mother, etc. Investigating and analyzing their faces and emotions, she tries to understand why she and her generation do not share the same feeling about aspects such as marriage, starting a family or even having a formal partner.

Given her confusion, she manages to interview all those women who have been eternally framed in those photographs to ask them for their opinion. Both women will show their vision on sexuality, marriage and their first times to reach an understanding. What are the reasons that justify this change in thinking between people of such different ages?

'Southern Brides' is a forty-minute documentary that goes deeply into these and more aspects. Financed by the Government of Spain, SUICAfilms and Alina Film and also recorded in Switzerland, the project has been produced by Rafa Molés, Pepe Andreu, Eugenia Mumenthaler and David Epiney. The photography is done by Elena López Riera, Alba Cros and Agnès Piqué, meanwhile the sound is made by Alejandro Castillo.
