This is an inspiring story of the triumph of the human spirit over a player who faced a near-death experience when he was at his best, but emerged victorious for his great determination, hard work and relentless passion for the sport. Sandeep Singh, a specialist in an Indian hockey team, made headlines when he was hit in the spine by an accidental shot while traveling on a train to join the national team that would travel to Germany for the World Cup in 2006. The injury left him paralyzed, with the medical community giving him a small chance to walk again. However, Sandeep not only recovered, he also returned and re-established himself as the best drag-flicker, becoming the captain of the national Indian hockey team in January 2009.
