Plot

The alien Shadow (Keanu Reeves) accidentally lands on Earth during the 1970s. Since then, he has been kept in quarantine, remaining in a state of suspension for years. However, the black hedgehog awakens in the midst of 2024 to uncontrollably attack downtown Tokyo. This prompts Sonic (Ben Schwartz), Tails (Colleen O'Shaughnessey), and Knuckles (Idris Elba) to decide to stop him before it's too late.

However, the enemy, who seems to be searching for something, is too powerful. Sonic's team must ally with Dr. Eggman (Jim Carrey) to defeat the villain. 'Sonic the Hedgehog 3', directed by filmmaker Jeff Fowler, continues the adventures of the hedgehog following the events of 'Sonic the Hedgehog 2' in 2022 and the interlude 'Knuckles', a spin-off series starring Idris Elba's character.

The film loosely adapts the video game 'Sonic Adventure 2', released in 2001, year in which Shadow was introduced into the series. Names like Krysten Ritter, James Marsden, Sofia Pernas, Tika Sumpter, and Alyla Browne complete the cast. With an approximate budget of 120 million dollars, 'Sonic the Hedgehog 3' has grossed half of its costs during its opening weekend in the United States, a very good sign of its box office performance.
