Plot
'So Foul a Sky' is a sensory and immersive journey from the current hostile situation in Venezuela (the first oil power), where oil refineries and semi-desert towns abound. Survive the one who can and how can.
This documentary film will focus on the night world of gasoline smugglers in the desert, vigilante patrols in the Caribbean Sea and immigration controls at the gates of Brazil. This is an unusual look, far from sensationalism, at the apocalyptic panorama of Venezuela after the Chávez government.
Álvaro F. Pulpeiro directs and writes the project. Mauricio Reyes Serrano, Álvaro F. Pulpeiro is in charge of photography and, for his part, Sergio Gutiérrez Zuluaga is in charge of music. It is the second feature by the filmmaker ('Nocturne: Ghosts of the Sea in Port') and takes as its starting point the literary work 'Nostromo', by the author Joseph Conrad. According to him, the feature film "has the ambition of being able to inhabit itself as a lyrical piece that oscillates between the mundanely realistic and the radically intimate. We illustrate the concept of the pariah, orphan, subject devoid of identity or national rights, through a series of encounters with people who live, consciously or unconsciously, with their backs to what forces them to take a particular side within the conflict by ravaging the country".
