Silent Land

A perfect Polish couple decide to go on holiday to a house on a summer island in Italy. However, when they arrive at their new holiday home, their expectations collide with reality when they realize that the swimming pool is broken. The couple send for someone to fix it immediately, regardless of the fact that the island is currently suffering from a water shortage. Everything goes awry when the imminent presence of a stranger causes their sense of security to crumble, leading them to act irrationally and changing their relationship forever.

Silent Land' is the feature debut of Polish director, screenwriter and anthropologist Aga Woszczynska, who is both behind the camera and the screenplay, which she co-wrote with Piotr Jaksa Litwin. Before launching with the film, Woszczynska studied film directing at the National School of Film, Television and Theatre in LódZ and her final degree work, 'Fragments', was selected for the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs at the Cannes Film Festival in 2014.

The cast includes Dobromir Dymecki, Agnieszka Zulewska, Jean Marc Barr, Alma Jodorowsky and Marcello Romolo.

In its festival run, it won the FIPRESCI 2022 Award at the Thessaloniki International Film Festival. It has also won awards at the Toronto International Film Festival 2022 and in the official selection of the Zurich International Film Festival 2021.
