Plot
'Siete días en mayo' is a documentary that follows David Riondino, an Italian film director who comes to Spain determined to document the Atocha massacre of 1977 in order to make a film. Along his journey, he is assisted by Alejandra, a young documentary filmmaker in her internship. David embarks on a journey that leads him to understand the reality of the working class in Spain's recent history while investigating the past of the Atocha attack and witnessing the current labor situation in the country.
The event discussed in the documentary is the Atocha massacre of 1977, a terrorist attack carried out by a far-right ideological command in the center of Madrid on the night of January 24 of that year. The attack occurred during a politically complicated period in Spain as the country was experiencing the Transition from the Francoist dictatorship, which had ended a couple of years earlier with the death of dictator Francisco Franco, to the democracy we know today.
The actress, director, and also politician Rosana Pastor directs this documentary that speaks of historical memory and social conflict. Pastor, who won the Goya Award for Best New Actress in 1996, changed her career as an artist for a political career. She now returns to the audiovisual world with this documentary that combines her two great passions: cinema and politics.
