Shayda

'Shayda' is a drama film that tells the story of an Iranian mother who seeks asylum with her six-year-old daughter. In their search, they come across an Australian women's shelter where they stay during the Persian New Year, distracting themselves with rituals typical of this time. But danger soon appears when Shayda's ex-husband unexpectedly returns, depriving her of her freedom.

Zar Amir Ebrahimi and Selina Zahednia are responsible for portraying the protagonists, with Ebrahimi as Shayda (the mother) and Zahednia as Mona (the daughter). The rest of the cast includes actors Sami Osama, Mojean Aria, Jillian Nguyen, Rina Mousavi, and Lea Purcell.

This feature film is the first by Iranian-Australian filmmaker Noora Niasari, created from personal experiences. The film has won an award at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival, the "Audience Award: World Cinema Dramatic." It is a production of Origma 45 and Parandeh Pictures, with executive production by Dirty Films. Alongside Andrew Upton, the co-founder and partner of the production company is actress Cate Blanchett, known primarily for her roles in 'Oceans 8', 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button', and 'Carol'.
