Georgie, a dreamy 12-year-old girl, lives alone and happy in her London apartment, filling it with magic. One day, her father, whom she doesn't know, appears and forces her to face reality.

When she finally started thinking about her debut feature, Charlotte Regan, the film's director, knew that she wanted to make a different film about the British working class , a film that reflected faithfully her childhood. "I wanted it to be happy and fun. I've seen movies about working-class life where the characters only experience one minute of happiness in the entire movie, where no one is funny and everyone is miserable. But my life hasn't been like that. ".

Regan spent part of her childhood living with her grandmother in a north London tower block and remembers it as a playground or a holiday camp. "Spending the day with your friends on the same street is something magical. Everyone took care of everyone. "I wanted to reflect that sense of working class solidarity, grandmothers sitting on balconies drinking cups of tea and watching the children."

'Scrapper' tells the story of Georgie, who lives alone after the death of her mother but no one knows . The idea to write a story about a grieving child came to Regan after her own experience of grieving when she lost members of her family over the past three years. While she was browsing YouTube, she kept finding videos of children talking about the loss of her parents.
