Santosh

Santosh Saini (Shahana Goswami) is a young woman that lives in a rural area of northern India. She lives her routine peacefully with her husband, Raman, who is a police officer. However, everything changes when he dies under strange circumstances and, due to a government rule, Santosh must inherit his job. This forces the protagonist to join the police force and start from scratch.

However, her colleagues laugh at her and do not take her seriously because she is a woman. Nevertheless, Santosh perseveres. Things take a much darker turn when Devika Pippa, a fourteen-year-old girl, is found murdered and raped in the village well. The neighbors do not trust the authorities and demand an immediate resolution. Santosh, saddened by the situation, fully immerses herself in the case and begins to investigate who is behind it, a journey that will lead her to fight against the oligarchy and the richest people of the community.

'Santosh' is a film directed by filmmaker Sandhya Suri, who also writes it. The title, which debuted at the recent Cannes Film Festival, has been praised for its strong feminist character and neo-noir tone. La Aventura Audiovisual is the company responsible of distributing it in Spain, arriving in theaters on March 14.
