In dreams, he is chased by Manet's black cat, in his third nightmare he is strangled by the Venus of Botticelli and dragged to the bottom of the sea, where he is attacked by a sea witch. A lot of the other protagonist of Art's history are referenced throughout the film as 'Nighthawks' by Hopper or "La Infanta Margarita" by Velázquez. Brandt's pacients put a lot of effor in helping him, so they decide to steal some of these Art pieces and give them to him as a gift to fight his nightmares. From this moment, he will be known as "the collector", a criminal looked for by the law.
