Elena became a quadriplegic in a terrible accident that also claimed the life of her sister. Still in the process of absorbing such a huge life change, Elena is often overtaken by survivor's guilt and secretly wishes she had died in the accident, too. Despite this, Elena wants to regain her independence and live by herself, so she decides to move to a house in the woods that is set up with a wheelchair-using tenant in mind. Elena only has Athos to help, a trained German Shepherd to assist her in her daily routine as Elena struggles to get used to her new of life.
Everything takes a turn for the worse when Athos catches a disease that drives him to try and attack anything that gets in his way, often with fatal results. Suddenly in danger and alone in the country house, Elena tries to hide and defend herself from Athos' rage.
