Rich Flu

A lethal virus begins to spread among the richest people on the planet just as Laura reaches the peak of her professional career. Initially, the virus seems to exclusively target billionaires, but it quickly expands its reach, affecting those with more modest fortunes. This unleashes a global frenzy to get rid of wealth, although soon an insurmountable problem arises: there is no one left willing to buy it. A dystopia where class struggle merges with pandemic science fiction, directed by the filmmaker behind the acclaimed 'The Platform'.

'The Fever of the Rich', the latest film by Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia, has participated in the Official Competition Section at the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival. It is the director's first film in English and features an international cast including names like Mary Elizabeth Winstead ('Ahsoka'), Rafe Spall ('Life of Pi'), Timothy Spall ('Spencer'), Lorraine Bracco ('The Sopranos'), Jonah Hauer-King ('The Little Mermaid'), César Domboy ('Outlander'), and Richard Sammel ('Inglourious Basterds').

Just like in 'The Platform', with his characteristic raw and ironic tone, Gaztelu-Urrutia immerses us once again in the intense debate about growing social and class inequalities. This time, a dangerous virus attacks the wealthiest elites, causing the most powerful rich people in the world to fall one after another. This phenomenon destabilizes the established social order and unleashes chaos on a global scale.
