Rheingold

Behind the famous rapper and producer Xatar is the Giwar Hijab and his resilient history. Hijab did not have an easy childhood, full of conflicts, he was born in Iran but all his youth was based on jumping the borders of the Kurdish countries in search of stability. Soon the young Giwar is involved in a tremendous mess, he is captured in Iraq trying to steal a shipment full of gold. His plans were frustrated, but misfortune increased, reaching rock bottom in a hellish Iraqi jail, from where he came out a completely different person.

When Giwar finally gets out of prison, he flees to Germany in search of a new beginning, leaving everything behind. With nothing to lose and everything to gain, Giwar got some opportunities in the world of music, under the pseudonym Xatar. Little by little, the young man began to climb to the top of the listening lists in Germany in the eighties.

'Pure Gold - Rheingold' is a biographical film based on true events where Giwar Hijab, better known as Xatar, scripts his life story alongside director Fatih Akin. This film was born after Xatar published his biography in a novel of the same name as the film. The film stars Emilio Sayaka, the German actor will be in charge of embodying the singer throughout the 138 minutes that the film lasts.
