Revolución Bitcoin

'Revolución Bitcoin', directed by Juan Pablo Mejía, is an international documentary about Bitcoin that will be released in theaters on June 21, 2024 by New Frequency. This film gives voice to the main exponents of Bitcoin in the Spanish-speaking world and explores the impact and evolution of what some call "digital gold". The film will be previewed on June 20 at the MK2 Cine Paz in Madrid and will be available in commercial theaters starting the following day. Likewise, it will premiere in Colombia and begin a tour through Latin America and Europe.

The documentary delves into the transformative potential of Bitcoin, beyond speculation about its price, and offers a detailed view of what it considers one of the great revolutions of our time. It seeks to share this valuable information with millions of people who can benefit from this technology. In addition, 'Revolución Bitcoin' has created a considerable community on social networks, exceeding 10,000 followers.

Juan Pablo Mejía raises the possibility of a monetary, social and political system that manages money with clear rules, without hierarchies and without manipulation. Known as Juan en Crypto, Mejía is a popularizer and content creator about Bitcoin since 2017. He has collaborated with several cryptocurrency companies in Switzerland, United Kingdom, Gibraltar and Spain. In 2020, he was named one of the 'Top 10 most influential in the crypto ecosystem' in Spain. The team includes Camila Rodríguez Bohórquez, documentary filmmaker with more than seven years of experience, Pablo Martínez Lara, audiovisual producer and editor with more than 15 years in television, advertising and film, and Jorge Bartolomé Delgado, screenwriter with experience in large productions for different streaming platforms.

Shot between 2021 and 2023 in Spain, El Salvador, Mexico, Colombia and Argentina, the documentary lasts 80 minutes and features the participation of numerous businessmen, lawyers, journalists and content creators. It has also received support from important sponsors of the Bitcoin ecosystem, such as Rootstock, a Bitcoin sidechain with a large presence in Latin America, led by Diego Gutiérrez and Sergio Lerner, among others, and Rayyo Wallet, a Bitcoin wallet integrated with the Lightning Network, created by David Noriega.
