Raya and the Last Dragon

The story takes place in a mysterious location called Kumandra, a region divided in five clans which is known by "The Land of the Dragon". Raya is a fearless warrior who embarks in the search of the last dragon in the world to achieve his real goal: to save her beloved home.

'Raya and the Last Dragon' is the new original animated movie from the company Walt Disney Studios. It was presented during the panel of the production company during the D23 Expo back in August in 2019. According to its responsables, this story is "a fantasy movie inspired in different cultures from South Asia", following the example of 'Moana', whose cultural component is essential to the story. The film will combine the classic style from Disney with the kung fu movies.

'Raya and the Last Dragon' counts on Paul Briggs ('Big Hero 6', 'The Princess and the Frog') and Dean Wellins ('Tick Tock Tale', 'Ralph Breaks the Internet') as its directors. Adele Lim ('Las Vegas', 'Life Unexpected'), who was the cowriter of 'Crazy Rich Asians', is in charge of the script. The movie will be starred by Awkwafina ('Ocean's 8', 'The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance') who will voice Sisu, the last dragon, and Cassie Steele ('Rick & Morty', 'Paint It Red'), who will voice Raya, the main character.
