Plot

Filming during 1931 and 1932 by Sergei M. Einsenstein and Eduard Tisse, documental narrates social and cultural life of Mexico, divided on four chapters with epilogue and prologue. The prologue refers to prehistoric Mexico. First chapter, "Sandunga", reproduce a Tehuantepec native wedding. "Fiesta" episode shows ritual bullfight, "Maguey" presents the tragedy victimized peasant by his boss and "Soldadera", that wasn't filmed, will show the offering of a revolutionary woman. While the epilogue, called "Died day", represents different visions that exists in Mexico about death issue.

In 1979, Grigory Aelxandrov bassed on Eisenstein storyboards assembled the film, getting similar result that director wanted.
