Poveda

Pedro Poveda (Raul Escudero) has become one of the most important figures of the rights of women and poor people for his work during the early years of the twentieth century in Spain. Born in Linares, Jaen, his story focuses on the hard work that made ??the priest to fight for the creation of a new perspective , opening the way in annew innovative education. In addition, during his personal struggle one of his main reasons was the defense of the rights of women and helping the homeless without distinction. Victim of religious persecution during the Spanish Civil War, UNESCO recognized his humanitarian work in 1974 as an educator and humanist, being canonized by Pope John Paul II in 2003. He died in Madrid the 28th July 1936.
