Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle

23rd feature film from 'Pokémon' saga, which is directed by Tetsuo Yajima, in his second solo foray into the making of a film in the famous video game franchise after taking over 'Pokémon: The Power of Us' and as co-director of 'Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back - Evolution'. First installment of Generation VIII, with which 'Pokémon' returns to traditional 2D animation, although it's continuing an alternative line of anime series.

'Secrets of the Jungle' tells the story about Koko, a boy raised by the mythical Pokémon Zarude, showing how humans and Pokémon can have a much closer bond than what has been seen so far. Deep in the jungle, out of the sight of humans, is Forest of Okoya, a paradise for Pokémon in which there is a strict regulation of rules that helps to avoid the entrance of unexpected visitors. In this place, lives a herd of Zarude. One of them finds a abandoned baby boy near what looks like an abandoned laboratory. Doubtful at first, he decides to raise the little one as if it were his son.

Ten years later, Koko is a boy who thinks he is a Pokémon. However, Ash Ketchum and his inseparable friend Pikachu's arrival will cause Koko to start wondering. Is he also a human? The boy will form a friendship with Ash, showing that there may be a different bond between humans and Pokémon and that it will be essential when Forest of Okoya is threatened by a powerful scientific enterprise.
