Plot
In the year 1901, a political prisoner by the name of Józef Pi?sudski (Borys Szyc) is imprisoned in a psychiatric hospital within the Russian partition. Hearing of his capture, members of the Polish independence movement break him out in the hope he can lead them through the murky waters of conflict as the people of Poland are caught between the passive conservatives of the Polish Socialist Party and the aggression of the invading forces. With the First World War rapidly approaching, Pi?sudski sees an opportunity to use the upcoming war as a means of pushing for Polish independence. Whereas Pi?sudski is unwavering in his political goals, however, his personal life remains confusing as he is increasingly torn between his wife, Maria Pilsudska (Magdalena Boczarska), and his lover, Aleksandra Szczerbinska (Maria Debska). As he distracts himself from his romantic preoccupations with the fight for independence, Pi?sudski and his collaborators are willing to go to any lengths to secure Poland's future, even if it means slipping past the Russian forces to target tsarist officials.
'Pi?sudski' is a drama based on the historical figure of Józef Pi?sudski. It is written and directed by Michael Rosa ('Rysa', 'Szczescie swiata', 'Bodo', 'Czas honoru').
