Pilgrimage

Ireland, 1209, a small group of monks belonging to an ancient brotherhood need protection to carry a holy relic to Rome. This brotherhood has protected the relic for centuries, because it is believed that is capable of bringing down the wrath of God on the enemies of whoever uses it.

The messenger, sent by the Pope, is then given the go ahead to transport the relic back to Rome, only if he's accompanied by one of their own however. The film focusses on the journey of the messenger, and three monks through the rough Irish terrain. Given the religious value of the relic however, their journey won't be as easy as they might have anticipated. Norman soldiers, with whom they are destined to cross paths with several times, are determined to take the relic for themselves.
