Plot

Urban Symphony of Berlin in 1930. A series of characters relax on a Sunday after a week of hard work.

'People on Sunday' was the second screenplay by Billy Wilder, who would later achieve international fame in Hollywood, breaking the barriers of all film genres and winning six Oscars Awards. The filmmakers Edgar G. Ulmer ('Detour') and Robert Siodmak ('The Killers') directed 'People on Sunday', it was the first time that any of them directed a film . In the photography we find a young Fred Zinnemann ('From Here to Eternity', 'High Noon'), who would later win four Oscars.

The 'People on Sunday' crew is about a union of geniuses who fled to the United States with the arrival of Nazism to Germany. This way, they became some of the most representative and renowned directors of classic cinema. The production of 'People on Sunday' was a truly independent and atypical language effort that shook up the german silent film scene. In hindsight, it is claimed as one of the great urban symphonies in the history of cinema.

Brigitte Borchert, Christel Ehlers, Wolfgang von Waltershausen, Annie Schreyer and Erwin Splettstösser are de main cast. eymour Nebenzal and Moriz Seeler work on the production of 'People on Sunday', while Donald Sosis works in the music.
