Papillon means 'Butterfly' and was Henri Charriere's nickname due to the butterfly tattoo on his chest.

There is a popular song based around someone remembering seeing the film with his father, called "Hey you Bastards, I'm still here!"

Reunites 'Sons of anarchy' (2008) co-stars Tommy Flanagan and Charlie Hunnam.
