Orgullo Vieja

Documentary that shows the dream of becoming stand-up comedians of eight women from the neighborhood of Triana, Seville, aged between 68 and 97 years. They seek to succeed in the world of entertainment and advocate for the respect and visibility that older women deserve.

Antoñita, Pepa, Esperanza, Pepi, Remedios, Kiska, Rafaela, and Catalina are the protagonists of this film. They all share the same dream: to be stand-up comedians and succeed in the entertainment world. To achieve this, they have created a show titled: ORGULLO VIEJA. The film showcases the process of creating the company, the rehearsals they conducted, the premiere in Seville, and the trips they made throughout the rest of Andalusia.

Through everyday scenes and with the charisma and naturalness of the actresses, Chema Rodríguez manages to narrate the lives of these women in a dynamic way. All of them have spent their lives taking care of others, and now it is their time to take care of themselves. A documentary that seeks to give visibility to women whom society often forgets.

It has been presented at the San Sebastián International Film Festival in the non-competitive section 'Made in Spain' after winning the Audience Award ZonaZine at the Málaga Film Festival.
