Plot
Europe is in the midst of the Second World War. It is 1943 and the Allies are preparing to strike the final blow against Nazi troops, but they must protect themselves against the strength of the German army. The officers of MI5, the British intelligence service, Ewen Montagu (Colin Firth) and Charles Cholmondeley (Matthew Macfayden) will try to save as many lives as possible with a plan based on the falsification of documents and the use of a corpse to deceive the opposing side and end the war as soon as possible. It is inspired by true events and Ben Macintyre's bestselling novel 'Operation Mincemeat: The True Story of Spies that Turned the Tide of World War II', which has been adapted for the film by screenwriter Michael Ashford.
It is directed by John Madden, Oscar-nominated for 'Shakespeare in Love'. Its production has been made by Emile Sherman and Iain Canning, winners of the Oscar for Best Film in 2011 for 'The King's Speech', a production in which Colin Firth also participated and which also won him a statuette for Best Leading Actor. The studios in charge of the production were See-Saw Films, Cohen Media Group, A Film Location Company, Archery pictures and FilmNation Entertainment. Its distribution in Spain and the UK is made by Warner Bros.
