Only Yesterday

Directed by acclaimed Japanese director Isao Takahata ('The Adventures of Hols, Prince of the Sun', 'Grave of the Fireflies'). Taeko Okajima is a 27 year old young woman who works as a clerk in the bustling Tokyo. She grew up in Tokyo. She decides to ask permission to take a vacation and go to Yamagata, her brother-in-law town and she has very fond memories not having left the capital during her childhood. She is in a place full of existential questions about her present and future that awaits her now. During her journey and subsequent stay on the farm of the family of her brother-in-law, Taeko will remember her girlhood memories, during the 60s, a period in which the young girl felt like a chrysalis. At present, Taeko have a dilemma when Toshio, a young man who she has a great affection, make a proposal dating to her.
