Plot
'Öndög' begins as a thriller when the police find the naked corpse of a woman in the middle of an immense plain. The police chief then decides to leave a young and inexperienced agent to guard the body that night despite the fact that this young policeman does not know the terrain well and so it could be dangerous for him to stay there alone.
There is no one around for 100km apart from a shepherdess who lives alone in a cabin, and so the police instruct the shepherdess to stay with the policeman that night so that he does not die of cold or from an attack of the wolves. The 30-something-year-old woman knows how to handle weapons, which will help protect herself and the young agent. She will also be in charge of lighting a fire so they don't die of the cold.
With this film, the director, one of the most unique creators of Chinese cinema, has returned to the land of his ancestors to immortalize the plain and life forms of Mongolia. The Mongolian film is directed and written by Wang Quan'an, who has made films such as 'Yue shi', 'Jing zhe', 'Tuya's Marriage', 'Fang zhi gu niang', 'Tuan yuan' y 'Bai lu yuan' and 'Öndög'. The film stars Dulamjav Enkhtaivan, Aorigeletu and Norovsambuu, in what is the debut feature for all three actors.
