Plot
A Ukrainian gymnast, exiled in Switzerland, works to get a place at the country's National Sports Center. When the Euromaidan or Dignity Revolution takes place in Ukraine, Olga's anxiety increases as her family becomes involved.
The film was directed by Elie Grappe, with a screenplay signed by Elie Grappe herself with Raphaëlle Desplechin. It is a co-production between France, Switzerland and Ukraine, by the production companies Point Prod (Switzerland), Cinéma Defacto (France), with RTS-radio télévision suisse as co-producer. The production was also supported by OFC, cinéforom, Canal+, Ciné+ and CNC, among others.
The main character, Olga, is played by actress Anastasiia Budiashkina. The rest of the cast is completed by Sabrina Rubtsova, Caterina Barloggio, Théa Brogli, Jérôme Martin, Tanya Mikhina, Alicia Onomor, Lou Steffen, Stéphanie Chuat, Aleksandr Mavrits, Philippe Schuler, Max Rüdlinger and Roger Jendly.
'Olga' has won the Audience Award at the Brussels International Film Festival and the BeTV Award for Best International Film. It has also won Best Film at the Hamburg Film Festival, the SACD Award at the Cannes Film Festival and the Jury Prize and Best Film at the Waterloo Historical Film Festival, not counting the 17 nominations the film has had in total across various festivals.
