Oh, Canada

'Oh, Canada' tells the story of Leonard Fife, an exile who was forced to flee to Canada during the Vietnam War. In the final moments of his life, when he is on the brink of death, he grants one last interview to one of his former students in order to tell him the whole truth about his story. This confession is recorded in front of his wife.

The work is based on 'Foregone', the antepenultimate novel by Russell Banks, which creates a narrative of memory and regret reflecting past mistakes and the desire for redemption. It is a story about the most personal past of the documentarian but also an evolutionary analysis in the present. An exciting tale that forms a great mosaic depicting what a real life is like and how it is presented to the world.

The film is directed by Paul Schrader, known for other films such as 'First Reformed' and 'Taxi Driver,' featuring Richard Gere known for 'Chicago' and 'Pretty Woman', Jacob Elordi, the young actor whe've seen in 'Euphoria' and 'Saltburn', and Uma Thurman better known for 'Kill Bill: Volume 1' or 'Batman and Robin' as the main characters. The main timeline is set in the present, although the journeys into Fife's past are more than justified as they serve to fully understand the protagonist's life.
