Plot
'No Bears' is the twelfth feature film by the renowned director of Iranian origin, Jafar Panahi. Panahi has already dazzled before with his work in films such as 'Taxi Tehran' or 'Three Faces', however, critics agree that 'No Bears' is the most well-rounded work of the actor, screenwriter and director. In this 106-minute drama, Panahi wants to tell two very similar love stories, in both of which there are unattainable desires, frustrated by problems that cannot be avoided or surrounded.
This film, awarded at the 2022 Venice Film Festival with the Special Jury Prize, is a complete criticism of the mostly frustrated aspirations of the population. Frustrations that range from simple things to deep issues, becoming a plea against thorny issues such as film censorship in Middle Eastern countries, popular unrest or the daily problems of a couple that do not allow progress in the proper development of it's components. A film wrapped in an atmosphere of poetic pessimism that shows a naked Panahi in a work that promises to be a delicatessen for all the senses.
As for the cast, Jafar Panahi plays himself, Naser Hashemi, Vahid Mobasheri, Baktiyar Panjeei, Mina Kavani, Narges Delaram, Reza Heydari and Javad Siyahi complete the rest of the cast.
