Following his wife's suicide and his partner's sudden death, Brett Irlam, a former LAPD officer, after some persuasion from his friends, decides to take up a job offer in Sofia, Bulgaria. Once in the capital city, Brett finds his job is to guard an old, otherwise abandoned stately home on its own grounds. Brett is tasked with watching the security cameras situated all over the building and report back any suspicious behaviour, something the protagonist finds odd as he is supposedly the only person there.

During his introduction to the house, Brett is shown a set of ornately carved doors in the basement that are to remain locked and from which he is told to keep his distance.

After experiencing a series of blackouts, hallucinations and strange occurrences in the house, Brett results in seeking out help from the emergency number his employers left.

Brett?s confusion is only amplified when the locals begin wondering why he's spending so much time at the house when they?ve never seen anyone enter or exit. Just what is Brett supposed to be guarding?
