Plot
Documentary about London's legendary trans nightclub 'The Way Out' and its founder, Vicky Lee. As the club approaches its 30th anniversary, the documentary is a perfect way to look back on the last three decades of London's trans scene and the club's significant impact on the trans community as a safe and unique place, of liberation and forging of community. 'My Way Out' is a non-fiction film that, although it also denounces the discrimination and abuse that the trans community has suffered for years, conveys hope and happiness.
After screening in San Sebastián and the D'A Barcelona Film Festival, 'My Way Out' hits theaters in Spain on March 31st. It offers an overview of the generational, cultural, and individual diversity of trans experiences, with their struggles, fears, and pain, but also with their victories, joys, and parties.
Izaskun Arandia, a film producer who makes her debut as a director of a feature film with this project, directs 'My Way Out'. Arandia also is charge of the script. Through interviews with its founder Vicky Lee and other regulars on the scene, the director reconstructs an essential chapter in trans history.
Produced by IZAR Films and distributed by Ater Films, iIt has a runtime of 1 hour and ten minutes
