Plot
Directed and written by Hayao Miyazaki. Year 1958 in Japan, Tatsuo Kusakabe is a professor of archeology and anthropology at the University of Tokyo who decides to move to the countryside with his daughters Satsuki and Mei. The reason why the family has moved to a rural environment is to be near the hospital where Yasuko, his wife and mother of little girls, is hospitalized due to tuberculosis. As soon as they reach their new home, Satsuki and Mei discover susuwataris, tiny and dark dust spirits. Days later, Mei meets the great spirit of the forest, Totoro, along with other smaller Totoros. When, at another moment, Totoro appears as much to Mei as to her sister Satsuki, two little girls will discover that Totoro is the great guardian of the forest, with whom they will live several adventures. A song to nature and to the childhood of the great master of Japanese animation.
