My Grandfather's Demons

'My Grandfather's Demons' is an animated feature film that takes its inspiration from Portuguese ceramics to tell the story of Rosa. The film follows the successful designer living in a big city who, when her grandfather dies unexpectedly, will soon realize that she is not where she wants to be, as she has not felt connected or loved since she left her homeland. Rosa is determined to sell her grandfather's land, who, according to local rumors, cast a curse that caused the water to leave the fields. The protagonist will try to get to the bottom of the matter, without realizing that, when night comes and everything gets dark, she is accompanied by the mud demons that her grandfather molded.

'My Grandfather's Demons' is directed by Portuguese filmmaker Nuno Beato, who in 2022 received the prestigious Goya award for Best Animated Short Film together with Xosé Zapata for their work in 'The Monkey'. This new film of his is written by scriptwriters Cristina Pinheiro ('Menina') and Possidónio Cachapa, who is the first time that writes an original fiction feature film.

The voiceover cast includes Victoria Guerra as Rosa, Nuno Lopes as João, Ana Sofia Martins as Laura, Celso Bugallo as António, António Durães as Marcelino and João Tempera as Hugo.
