Plot

'Mr. Church' tells the story of the unique friendship that evolves between the little Charlie Brooks (Britt Robertson) and Henry Joseph Church (Eddie Murphy), a talented chef, when her dying mother, Marie Brooks (Nastascha McElhone), decides to employ him in order to look after her daughter while she is unable. What he began as a six-month work agreement, for what the mother believed were the last six months of her life, is then extended to fifteen years and the family form a bond that will last forever.

The story is based on the true story of the screenwriter, Susan McMartin ('After'). The film is directed by Bruce Beresford ('Driving Miss Daisy', 'Paradise Road') and brings back Eddie Murphy ('Coming to American', 'Dr. Dolittle') to action after four years out of the limelight. The actor will be joined by Britt Robertson ('Tomorrowland', 'Space between us') and Natascha McElhone ('The Truman Show', 'Solaris').

'Mr. Church' premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. Eddie Murphy was nominated to Best Actor in a Supporting Role in the Satellite Awards for this movie and Best Film in Shanghai International Film Festival. Its original score, written by Mark Isham ('Blade', 'The Lucky One'), was nominated in the Hollywood Music In Media Awards.
