Mother Valley

The film places us in the summer of 1958, in Lebanon. It tells the story of three sisters from a wealthy family who spend their vacations in one of the remote valleys found in the Lebanese mountains. Everything goes as normal, like every year, until the quiet life of the town is disturbed by the arrival of two French tourists and also by the distant sounds of a revolution that rumbles in Beirut. But everything will change within the family, of traditional and Christian customs, since little by little the family begins to change thanks to Layla, the eldest of the three sisters who is married and has a son, who ends up opening her eyes. before the patriarchal society that always has women under control. It is then that she begins to ask herself questions: in a Lebanon that dreams of achieving an age of gold, can a woman change her destiny and make it different from what men have planned for her?

Carlos Chahine is in charge of directing 'Mother Valley', and writing the script with Tristan Benoit. The protagonist of the film is Layla, and she is played by Marilyne Naaman. The cast is completed by the actors Antoine Merheb Har, Nathalie Baye and Pierre Rochefort. The edition of the movie is a work from Gladys Joujou, and the music is from Antonin Tardy.
