Plot

Biochemist Michael Morbius tries to cure himself of a strange blood disease, but he inadvertently infects himself with a form of vampirism instead.

'Morbius' is based on the famous Marvel characters and one of the villains of Spider-Man. The character was born and raised in Greece, with a very lonely childhood due to his blood condition and a not very flattering personal appearance. Nevertheless, Michael has always been a big reader, with an incredible intelligence, which led him to win a Noble Award as a biologist. After trying to cure himself, he becomes a vampire and that gives him some powers that he did not have before, such as the ability of flying, a superhuman strength and an ability of extraordinary regenerate himself.

'Morbius', the new movie from Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios, is directed by Daniel Espinosa ('Safe House', 'Child 44', 'Life') and Matt Sazama ('The Last Witch Hunter', 'Gods of Egypt, 'Lost in Space') and Burk Sharpless ('Power Rangers', 'Dracula Untold') are in charge of the script. About the cast of the film, we have Jared Leto ('Blade Runner 2049', 'Suicide Squad'), Matt Smith ('Official Secrets', 'The Crown'), Jared Harris ('The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones', 'Chernobyl') and Adria Arjona ('Good Omens', 'Triple frontier'), among others.

Trivia

Jared Leto

Morbius will be the second comic book portrayal for Jared Leto. The first one was the Joker in the DC Extended Universe.

A big reason

Matt Smith joined the film, after previously turning down other superhero film roles, due to director Daniel Espinosa's involvement and encouragement from his former Doctor Who co-star Karen Gillan, who portrays Nebula in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Glimpse in Blade

The character of Morbius can also be glimpsed in the bonus features of the Blade (1998) DVD, in a deleted ending.
