Plot
Fernando León de Aranoa directs this drama that shows the vital misfortunes of a group of unemployed people who are trying to take a step forward against the wind and the tides. When the navy sector of a Galician city plummets, many workers whose families were surviving thanks to their jobs are forced to find new opportunities, desperately. The unemployed friends decide to help one another, but at the same time trying to regain control of their lives, it gives them a major setback. In 2002, the film won 5 Goya's including best film, best director (Aranoa), best actor (Javier Bardem) and best supporting actor (Luis Tosar). It was also chosen by the Real Academia de Cine Español as Spain's pick for the 2003 Academy Awards.
