Plot
Germán was born in Argentina, but had to emigrate from his birth country to Spain thirty years ago prior to the start of the film with his wife, Rosa, and daughter, Lucia. The coup d'etat of March 24, 1976 subjected the South American country to a dictatorship that, with Jorge Videla as leader, lasted until 1983 after the defeat in the Falklands War with the United Kingdom. In Spain, Germán was been able to rebuild his life and has found a new home in the country. On the day of his daughter Lucia's birthday, Germán receives a phone call that forces him to face up his violent and traumatic past. The call revives the terrible experiences that he was subjected to during the coup of Videla and Germán will have to overcome this trauma at a point in his life where not even his family is there to help him. Germán must balance his roles as both an Argentine exile and the father of a family, no matter the cost.
'Moira' is directed and starring Daniel Lovecchio and written by his daughter, Nerea Lovecchio. It is an autobiographical tale, with Germán's experiences based on those of Daniel. Nerea Lovecchio writes from the perspective of a child watching as the horrors of their father's past catches up to him. The role of Lucia, Germán's daughter, is played by Malena Arterio.
